What's a Buttwhacker?
Black and white photo of a group of people in front of a rack of huge halibut.

A "Buttwhacker" is a term deeply rooted in Homer, Alaska fishing history. It originated by combining two dock nicknames: fishermen affectionately called their halibut catches "BUTTS," and the skilled filleters who whacked the fish into fillets were known as "WHACKERS."

Established in 2003, Buttwhackers is the premier dock and fillet service that provides captains and independent boats the central location for unloading their haul. Come visit us and watch us whack butts all summer long!
